National Board Preparation Course Outline
This course benefits individuals required to have a National Board Commission to perform boiler and pressure vessel inspections for a Jurisdictional Authority, an Authorized Inspection Agency or an Owner User Agency. It is an intensive examination preparation course covering Section I and VIII of the ASME Code to prepare a candidate to take the National Board Examination. Daily quizzes and simulated examinations are given. Passing this examination is an ABSA requirement for third party inspectors who wish to inspect boilers in the province of Alberta.
ASME Section VIII, Division 1 – Pressure Vessels
In an instructor-led setting, this seminar discusses the many commonly overlooked or misinterpreted construction, fabrication, examination and inspection requirements and answers the “whys” behind the requirements.
Repairs of Boilers & Pressure Vessels
For individuals responsible for verifying/maintaining ASME Code integrity relative to repairs/alterations of boilers and pressure vessels in accordance with the National Board Inspection Code.
ASME Section IX - Welding
For individuals responsible for reviewing, preparing and qualifying welding procedures in accordance with Section IX of the ASME code. Participants will be able to apply the rules of Section IX in the development of welding procedures specifications and welder performance qualifications.
Special Instructions
To write the National Board Examination, you must apply to your provincial jurisdiction 6-8 weeks prior to the exam date.
To write the API Examination, you must be registered 90 days prior to the exam data. Please check with API for exam dates @ www.api.org
Course fees include: Course reference materials, Certificate of Completion and Refreshments.
Code Books - It is recommended that attendees bring the relative ASME/API Code books for the courses they are attending. TSD DOES NOT PROVIDE THESE BOOKS.
