Dryer & Suction Roll Studies
Dryer Rolls
We use the unique Hartford Wedge to accurately measure the thickness of cast iron shells to determine a Maximum Allowable Working Pressure. This data helps to maximize productivity and maintain safe operating pressures. We also conduct Magnetic Particle testing on the dryer roll heads and ultrasonic testing of the head bolts.
Suction Rolls
After a complete Visual inspection, we polish selected areas of the roll for examination with a Metallurgical Microscope to evaluate microstructures, mode of cracking, and corrosion.
Shaft & Journal Examination
To detect early fatigue cracking, our qualified technicians use an Ultrasonic Flaw Detection Unit to provide an in-place examination of shafts or journal ends. The inspection is relatively quick and provides a full evaluation.
