MFE 2412 Tank Floor Scanner
The Floor Scanner uses Magnetic Flux Leakage by use of powerful rare earth magnets.
This machine detects underside and topside corrosion reliably on most tank floors up to 0.375 inches thick. Any localized reduction in the thickness of material will result in a flux leakage at the surface.
A series of sensors are placed between the poles of the magnetic bridge to detect these leakage fields. The strength of the leakage field is a function of volume loss only, therefore once an area is detected; an ultrasonic evaluation is used to measure the exact remaining wall thickness. |
