Won't The Manufacturer's Warranty Cover All The Testing?
Manufacturers' warranties will not cover the failure of electrical systems outside of the turbine-generators and their associated cabling. Furthermore, operator error, if not under supervision of the manufacturer, during the critical learning curve of testing and commissioning, is generally excluded from the warranty.

As wind turbines are erected, operators want to put them into service as soon as possible. Why Do I Need Mechanical Breakdown Insurance If I Have A Manufacturer's Warranty?
Manufacturers' warranties do not cover all potential causes of loss. Typically they exclude breakdown due to operator's error and resulting loss of income. Furthermore, all the electrical and mechanical equipment outside of the wind turbines would not be covered by the warranty. Most wind energy generation facilities single point of vulnerability to major loss is concentrated in their owned transformubstation. A burned out transformer can shut down all electrical production thereby interrupting income. Replacing this large transformer can take months. Wind turbine manufacturers' warranties will not protect against such eventualities. No wind energy generation facility should operate without mechanical breakdown insurance.
